The devil has eyes like stars and he Has many friends Fingers like fishhooks he'll pull you in And we will show no signs That we're drowning in apathy Stay awake you know it's all the same Oh seven save me from these rising tides The Water's up to my shaking knees And I'm seeing strange creatures swimming below me But it's none of your concern In these broken hours when the magnet's lost I am aimless shortchanged hanging When transfiguration is at my door Take these threads and make me whole again

I can’t tell you where I stand These paper trees are withering and I Cannot move my eyes anymore Can we make this harder that I’m sure And now I’m crawling sitting still The winds in all directions but you are a force all on your own Projections overblown I’ll be waiting for days I’m sure But it’s only weeks and now I’m gone And what to do with reservations What to do with consequence I can’t tell you where I stand These paper trees are withering and you are whatever you may be It’s so unclear to me And now The elements conspire the way the fault lines all devour all of us So if we’re sudden strangers in the darkness If wind and fire eat our bones and we forget this

Gasoline 03:10
When the oceans fill up with gasoline There'll be no more running Some day the sun will fill the sky I hope we've figured things out by then There'll be no insanity anymore The sirens will stop their howling And music will kill no more All our dreams and our intentions They'll be waiting for us still With everything we've made we're feelings and old bones

For Everyone 03:43
To all the shattered voices that parade through the streets Echoing through the alleys at night while we sleep In the snow in the rain and the cold and the heat Can you tell me if we’re sinking To the scattered souls who live in these walls Who walk endlessly up and down these halls When I listen closely I can still hear your calls Is there water around my feet And now that we’re shrouded in permanent light Take my hand and hold tight We won’t be here much longer To the man made of iron and soul made of lead If you could just step back it might ease your head But there’s nothing that’s stopping this feeling of dread Of the cold that’s rising under me To the used and startled and broken and cold To the rich and the lovely and safe young and old To the meek and humble beautiful and bold Can you tell me what happens next To my family and friends and the ones I despise I’ve been spinning in circles since I opened my eyes And in all these days I’ve only been surprised At every second of wonder To the wanderer who’ll never find his way home Who’ll find only himself and then die alone Tell me all of your secrets or I’ll take em from your bones Tell me where we’re headed

Every time it took my breath away We are where I wished we'd be yesterday All the simple things they would not stay All the simple things they would not stay I hope I don't let you down

One hand on this wily comet, Take a drink just to give me some weight, Some uber-man I'd make, I'm barely a vapor They shone a chlorine light on, A host of individual sins, Let's carve my aging face off, Fetch us a knife, Start with my eyes, Down so the lines, Form a grimacing smile, Close your eyes to corral a virtue, Is this fooling anyone else? Never worked so long and hard, To cement a failure, We can blow on our thumbs and posture, But the lonely is such delicate things, The wind from a wasp could blow them, Into the sea, With stones on their feet, Lost to the light and the loving we need, Still to come, The worst part and you know it, There is a numbness, In your heart and it's growing, With burnt sage and a forest of bygones, I click my heels, Get the devils in line, A list of things I could lay the blame on, Might give me a way out, But with each turn, It's this front and center, Like a dart stuck square in your eye, Every post you can hitch your faith on, Is a pie in the sky, Chock full of lies, A tool we devise, To make sinking stones fly, And still to come, The worst part and you know it, There is a numbness, In your heart and it's growing.

about

These songs were all written between the summer and winter of 2014, and recorded during the fall through winter of 2014. I'd like to thank Carson Lewis for being crazy agreeable and helpful throughout this process. Hopefully I didn't make Zardoz with this one. (www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbGVIdA3dx0)
